Side story featuring the origins of the red machete used by Rick Grimes. The machete was used to brutally kill Gareth in Season 5. The storyline takes place prior to the events of Season 1 and spans until after the events of Season 8.

The Machete passes to David and his daughters and he trains his oldest Mandy on how to wield it whilst food stocks run low.

The man who stole Mandy's machete, Derek, sits on a log and puts on headphones and plays music. He grabs the machete. He pours baking soda into an empty tin can, he pours water into it and stirs, he uses it to clean the machete's blade. He wraps red tape around the handle, covering Mandy's name.

A montage of Joe and the Claimers is shown; walking past the Terminus sign whilst shaking their heads, claiming leftover goods from abandoned camps, watching a survivor get eaten so they can take his backpack, and raiding a cabin.

Jerel, who received the red machete in the last webisode, is seen fleeing through the woods after defecting from the Saviors. He finds supplies in an abandoned car. He is then seen sheltering under a tent during a rainstorm. Later, he runs through the woods without his supplies pursued by an unknown person, who shoots him in the back. He falls to the ground dead, and the red machete sticks in the dirt. He reanimates as a walker.

Mandy is camping alone. She looks at the red tape that wraps the machete handle and removes it, and then looks at her name embedded on the grip. Not very far she heard the walkers and looks and proceeds to kill the walkers stabbing them in the head.
